This 4-hour class is designed to develop visual storytelling skills for individuals with basic Adobe Premiere editing software experience. It focuses on standard industry editing concepts for video and audio, to more efficiently edit and manage projects for export.

Possible topics include:

  • Project organization and efficiency tools
  • Slip and slide tool
  • Ripple and roll editing
  • Replace Edit
  • J and L cuts
  • Precision editing
  • Dialogue scene editing techniques
  • Typical editing transitions and their uses
  • Basic color correction
  • Basic dialogue smoothing and audio sweetening
  • Organizing projects and timelines for collaboration with other editors and finishing houses

About the Instructor: Andrew C. Richey

Andrew Richey is a producer and editor best known for his work on Fig, directed by Ryan Coogler and aired by HBO for two years and the documentary Code Black that won several awards and was adapted into a successful television show that is currently running on CBS. He has worked on dozens of projects in Los Angeles and Texas. He has worked on the Terrence Mallick editing team helping develop and maintain workflows and editing offices and finishing the documentary Voyage of Time. Andrew teaches film production at Austin Community College.
